Did the fishing trip clear up the massacre? Police arrest three suspects

July 23, 2020 – 10:47 a.m.

Frostproof massacre solved?

The police called it a massacre. The murder of three friends on a fishing lake in Florida shocked many and occupied people worldwide. Now the police believe they have found the killers of Damion Tillman, Keven Springfield and Brandon Rollins. Two men and one woman were arrested on Wednesday (July 22) and are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday (July 23). Tony and William Wiggins are brothers. 26-year-old Tony has more than 230 criminal records and has apparently been in prison many times.

The fishing excursion massacre shocked even experienced investigators

Damion Tillman (23), Keven Springfield (30) and Brandon Rollins (27) were good friends and wanted to spend a relaxing fishing weekend together. Their destination was the remote Lake Streety near Frostproof in Florida. They had often been fishing on the lake. They must have met their killers.

Brandon Rollins (pictured above) was able to call his father while still in agony. The killers apparently thought Brandon (27) was already dead and was moving away from the scene. The father said in an interview with the TV station “WFLA” that he heard turmoil in the background but did not understand anything. He also no longer understood what exactly his son wanted to tell him, since he was already dying. After his son’s call, Cyril Rollins immediately drove to the fishing spot about ten minutes away, but in the hustle and bustle, according to US media reports, he left his cell phone at home.

“When I arrived, I immediately looked after my son. It was pure chaos,” Cyril Rollins explains tearfully in an interview. “I found my son, I held him there, he told me what had happened, but I was too shocked.”

To get help, he quickly drove to a nearby grocery store and informed the authorities from there. But when these arrived, Brandon was also dead.

Sheriff Grady Judd was shocked by the fact and said at a press conference:

“I’ve been to a lot of murder scenes in my life and this is one of the worst”

Investigators quickly assumed that several perpetrators were involved in the crime – the crime scene was like a battlefield. The police also believe that the victims and perpetrators knew each other. The attack seems planned. “You don’t just stumble across someone out here,” explains the sheriff, Grady Judd. “It’s not like there are a lot of people out here.” Around 3,300 people live in Frostproof, the small town in Florida is idyllic, the lake is situated in a picturesque setting.

During the investigation, the police found that 27-year-old Damion Tillman was in a local supermarket before going on a fishing trip and found Tony Wiggins there. He probably told the alleged murderer that he would meet his friends to go fishing on the lake. Everything can be seen on the recordings of the surveillance camera. The cashier in the supermarket had watched everything and gave the investigators the crucial tip.

Sheriff Judd stated that Tony Wiggins then told his brother William to go to the lake.

Was the massacre the revenge for an alleged truck theft?

When Tony Wiggins, his brother William and his girlfriend met the three friends at the lake, there was apparently an argument. It was said to be the Wiggins truck. He claimed that one of the victims (30-year-old Keven Springfield) first stole him and then sold the engine. Investigators do not yet know whether this is true.

In the argument, Wiggins is said to have shot the three men. So says his brother William. The police found the murder weapon in Tony Wiggins’ house.

The sheriff said about Tony Wiggins: “He’s the guy who hits you in the face for no reason.”

After the crime, the suspects went to McDonalds

The two brothers and Tony’s girlfriend didn’t seem to take much effort to cover their tracks. They apparently left the scene quickly and then drove straight to a McDonalds store. There they would have ordered 10 double cheeseburgers and two chicken sandwiches.

Tony Wiggins is now charged with first degree murder, his brother and girlfriend each expecting a grant for aid. All three should appear before a judge on Thursday afternoon.
