Did the cosmonauts make a pro-Ukrainian statement?

The three Russian cosmonauts who arrived on the International Space Station yesterday in bright yellow overalls with striking blue stitching on the chest and legs. These colors are inevitably reminiscent of the Ukrainian flag.

Before the launch to ISS, the three wore white and blue spacesuits. And several media write that their commander Oleg Artyomeev wore a blue suit just before the docking to the ISS. The question arises whether they then donned the yellow-blue overalls to show their solidarity with the people of Ukraine in front of Russian TV viewers.

But the crew denies that. “It was our turn to pick the color,” Commander Artyomeev said after arriving at a question from a journalist. “We still had a lot of yellow materials, so we had to use them.” A strange story, also because it does not explain the blue accents on the leg and chest.
