Sadio Mané’s PR agent, Bacary Cisse, goes out and refutes rumors that the Senegalese left Liverpool because his salary was too poor.
Mané’s six years at Liverpool are over, after he completed the transfer to Bayern Munich, worth 35 million pounds for Liverpool, this week. But the fact that the striker chose not to sign a new contract with Liverpool has nothing to do with the salary conditions at the Anfield club.
It was in an interview with TV5Monde that Cisse was asked if Mané was offered a poor salary in Liverpool.
– Those rumors are false. We did not want to talk about it. A player of Sadio’s caliber cannot earn the sums that people are talking about. The numbers circulating are completely wrong, was the answer.
– Sadio already earned more than that when he joined Liverpool from Southampton. He extended his contract in 2018, and his salary in Liverpool was much higher than the sums circulating in the media, he added.
Candidate for Ballon d’Or
The Senegalese was involved in winning both the FA Cup and the League Cup in his last season at Anfield, and also reached the Champions League final, which was lost to Real Madrid. The Reds also just finished the point behind Premier League winner Manchester City. Mané may have a chance to win the Ballon d’Or, after Senegal won the African Championship.
– Sadio does not want to talk so much about it. It is an individual prize that players want to win. If it happens, it will happen, but if not, then Sadio will continue to play his football and go his own way, Cisse says about that matter.
