President Donald Trump thanks doctors, nurses and all staff at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
– I came here, I did not feel so good. I feel much better now, he says in a video published on Twitter just before 01 Norwegian time.
On Friday morning Norwegian time, it became known that the president and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for the coronavirus. The two were quarantined in the White House, but later the president was moved to the hospital.
–
The president’s symptoms were first described as mild, and on Friday several White House correspondents announced that he would have symptoms on Wednesday this week. Later there were reports that he had a fever. On Saturday afternoon Norwegian time, his doctor, Sean P. Conley, stated that the president was doing very well and was fever-free.
– We’re working hard to get me back. I have to go back. We still have to “Make America Great Again”, says Trump and mentions, among other things, that he looks forward to completing the campaign until the election on November 3.
– But this was something that happened. And it has happened to millions of people around the world. I fight for them, not just in the United States, but I fight for them all over the world. We are going to beat the corona virus, or whatever you want to call it, Trump says.
Furthermore, Trump says that he “just wanted to tell you that I’m starting to feel good.”
– Over the next period, the next few days, is probably the real test, so we will see what happens over the next few days.
He also thanks for all the messages of support, from the American people and from heads of state around the world.
– I will not forget that, he says about the support.
–
Trump further explains that he did not want to stay in the White House, even though it was an option, according to himself.
– Do not go anywhere. Stay up. Do not meet people, do not talk to people. I can not do that. I had to be out and… This is the USA. The best country in the world. The most powerful country in the world. I can not be locked in a room upstairs and say “whatever happens, happens.” I can not do that. We have to confront problems, as president we have to do that, says Trump.
He also says that First Lady Melania is doing well.
– Melania wanted me to say something about the respect she has for our country, and the love she has for our country. We’re both fine. As you have probably read, she is a little younger than me, just a little. We know the disease and the situation with age. Melania handles it as the statistics suggest it should be handled. It makes me and the country very happy.
