Did Máxima banknotes hide such a fiasco that Johan Vlemmix takes them away himself

Royal family fanatic Johan Vlemmix has already removed most of the hidden Máxima banknotes that were part of a major search. Vlemmix hid the homemade notes throughout the Netherlands. Last weekend he drove back town and country to get the notes from their hiding places.

Vlemmix came up with a campaign in honor of Queen Maxima’s fiftieth birthday. Instead of spending thousands of euros on a gift for the queen, he decided to set up an action in which everyone could participate. He printed more than a thousand 50 euro banknotes with an image of Máxima on them. He hid those notes and the lucky finder was able to contact him to collect the real money.

It soon became apparent that some people were doing everything they could to obtain the notes. “I had such good intentions with the idea,” says Vlemmix. “But I don’t want to be on my conscience when things break. People were digging holes everywhere and moving all kinds of things in chapels. ”

In fact, Monday was the day for fanatics to cash in their notes. But Vlemmix tells Omroep Brabant that he has already taken away most of the money during the weekend. “For me, it’s mainly about the large amounts,” he says. ” At the Sint-Jansbron in Limburg I had hidden five hundred notes in the ground. People no longer have to look for that. ”

Vlemmix hid the notes from Apeldoorn to Limburg. But also at the Central Station in Eindhoven. Hoping to collect a hefty sum, some people even went looking in the middle of the night. “I got a report that at two in the morning people were exploring with flashlights and all the grounds around a church. The site manager did not know what happened to him. ”

“The action just failed completely and I largely called it off,” he says. “But there are still some notes and the people who find them can just hand them in. Of course I could not find all the notes. Some of them I had hidden too well. ”

But despite the setback with the action, Monday is a top day for Vlemmix. Early in the morning he is already on his way to The Hague to deliver a present for the Queen at the gates of Huis ten Bosch. ” I have a large painting for her and a smaller work of art with all the notes in it. If she wants, Máxima can still hand them in. ”

The chances that the queen will take the gift at the gate herself is small. “Well, I now know how that goes,” he says cheerfully. “The Marachaussee will come and get it and they will hand it over to Máxima. But of course it would be super nice if she would receive me herself and let me take a look inside. “
