ANPDick Lawyer can go to Curaçao

Will Dick Advocaat work as a trainer one more time? That may happen as the national coach of Curaçao. The football coach is in serious discussions with the association there, the 75-year-old lawyer confirms on the Veronica Offside program.
“We are seriously negotiating,” says Advocaat, who was head coach at ADO Den Haag last season. But it remains to be seen whether the former national coach of the Dutch team will actually become one. “I’m not sure yet if I’m going to do it, it’s all still at an early stage.”
Lawyer wants improvements
De Hagenees wants to see improvements at the football association. “Hotels, planes and so on, that has to be improved. When players arrive, they have to know what is going to happen.”
Advocaat also implemented this professionalization in 2009 as national coach of Belgium. “But the Belgians had the money. Curaçao has little money. So they are looking to see if they can organize all that.”
26 times trainer?
If it goes ahead, the 75-year-old coach will become national coach for the tenth time in his career. In the past he led the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Belgium, the Netherlands (twice), Russia, Serbia, Iraq and the Dutch women. It could be his 26th job as a head coach in professional football.
Advocaat received another oeuvre award for his career in 2022.

Curaçao has had several national coaches from the Netherlands in the past. Patrick Kluivert, Guus Hiddink, Art Langeler and Remko Bicentini have been at the helm. Dean Gorré is currently the national coach. Most trainers did not last long on the island.
Remko Bicentini was the trainer who was most recently at the helm. He was sacked in July after failing to win any of his six matches since his appointment almost a year earlier.
