DICAT agents arrest two men for alleged fraud through social networks
EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.- The National Police reported this Thursday through the Department of Investigation of Crimes and High Technology Crimes (DICAT), about the separate arrest of two men accused of defrauding the sum of RD$100,050, through of social networks.
One of the detainees responds to the name of Luis Manuel Vásquez Taveras, by judicial order No. 530-2022-EMES-06684, he is indicated as the person who received the sum of approximately RD $ 95,500 as a result of scams through Messenger and WhatsApp messaging .
According to the preliminary report, Vásquez Taveras would have usurped the identity of an uncle of his victim, making a first contact on the Facebook Messenger social network asking him to supposedly receive four boxes and two tanks that would be sent from the United States and a second contact through WhatsApp, where he received the vouchers of the transfers of two deposits with a total of the aforementioned sum.
Meanwhile, the other detainee is Afrany Díaz Pérez, in the San José de Ocoa province, when he was preparing to withdraw the sum of RD$4,550 product of an alleged vehicle rental that a citizen interested in the service corresponding to 35% had deposited. of payment.
The detainees were placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry, for the corresponding purposes.
