Díaz-Canel expresses solidarity with Brazil and Lula over plane crash – 2024-08-11 14:14:08

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel expressed his solidarity with the people and government of Brazil following the death of more than 60 people in a plane crash in the state of Sao Paulo, it was reported today.

In his X account, the Antillean president expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the tragic incident in which 57 passengers and four crew members of an ATR-72-500 operated by the airline Voepass lost their lives.

I express my full solidarity with the people of Brazil and the government of President (Luís Inácio) Lula for the fatal plane crash that occurred in Sao Paulo. To the families and friends of the victims, our deepest condolences, Díaz-Canel wrote on that social network.

Flight 2283, operated by the crashed aircraft, departed the day before from Cascavel airport in the southern state of Paraná and was headed for Guarulhos, in Sao Paulo, in the southwest of the South American giant.
