Coopeguaycará receives credit

Coopeguaycará RL is an oil palm producer organization, located in Gaycará, Golfito, South Zone, which was born in 1985

Coopeguaycará RL is an oil palm producer organization, located in Gaycará, Golfito, Zona Sur, which was born in 1985 with the aim of supporting families in the southern part of the country, seriously affected by the abandonment of the operations of the Banana Company. 35 years later, the organization must face another difficult situation: the socioeconomic effects caused by the pandemic in Costa Rica and the world.

Therefore, they turned to the Rural Development Institute (Inder) in order to look for special credit conditions that would help them to face these times and requested their “Credit in March”, which is part of the measures adopted by the Institute, to support national agricultural producers to face current times.

The comprehensive strategy is called “Rural Motor” and also incorporates rural infrastructure projects to support production, non-reimbursable funds and initiatives to promote digital marketing, among others.

In this way, Coopeguaycará received ₡ 10 million at a fixed annual rate of 2%, for 5 years and with grace periods.

“This credit granted to the Cooperative constitutes a relief for the finances of the organization, since it will allow the planting of the necessary products, including fertilizers, that are required to normalize production, to be supplied at a very favorable interest rate for our operations. ”, Said Lilian Obando Obando, associate of Coopeguaycará RL

The loan was delivered to producers last week at Inder’s Territorial Development office in Río Claro, which carried out the necessary approval process.

The money granted through the “Ongoing Credit” will be used to supply two complete fertilization cycles to the oil palm plantations, for which a better yield is expected, thanks to the increase in the weight of fruit, with a view to the harvests of the year 2022 and following.
