Diane Dufresne and Michel Cusson reunited on the album State of Siege

A few days after celebrating her 80th birthday, Diane Dufresne announced a new opus on Wednesday, State of siegewhich will be published on Friday. Composer Michel Cusson wrote the music for the album’s 11 tracks, on which the singer writes lyrics featuring different characters whose destinies intersect.

Diane Dufresne traces the genesis of this album at the heart of the pandemic, where she had a revelation while attending one of the virtual performances of Michel Cusson, a renowned composer who notably wrote the music for several Quebec series and films such as Silence, Seraph : a man and his sin et In a galaxy near you.

The album, the recording of which was completed in 11 days, also includes the voices of Sophie Thibault and Paul Arcand, who support the intertwining stories told by Diane Dufresne.

The singer will be René Homier-Roy’s guest on a special show of Culture clubSaturday October 12 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on ICI Première. Together, they will relive key moments from the singer’s bursting creative journey, such as her show Pink magic, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

She will also appear on the special show Diane Dufresne : state of gracehosted by Monique Giroux, Sunday October 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on ICI Musique. Listeners will be able to hear a preview of her new album, narrated by the artist herself, who will also DJ later in the show.
