Diane Amyot and Alexandre Henry Break Records and Win Gold Medals at Défi de la roue

Diane Amyot and Alexandre Henry both returned with the gold medal around their necks on August 26 when they took part in the Défi de la roue in Shawinigan.

The two Charlevoisians had to cover as many kilometers as possible in six hours.

Alexandre Henry respectfully walked 47.73 km at a brisk pace. He broke the record which was 41.79. He finishes with a gold medal.

As for Diane Amyot, she walked 40.57 km in brisk walking. She also broke the record which was 38.8 km for women of all ages. She finishes with a gold medal.

The two athletes are part of the walking club Vainqueurs plus Baie Saint-Paul chapter.

“It’s a great team effort with Josée Bouchard (Alexander’s friend) and my husband Denis Vézina who provided us with snacks, hydration, care for minor sores and a change of clothes. Without them, we would not have been able to achieve this performance”, comments Diane Amyot.

The next competition will take place on Saturday September 30 atu Fall Classic Race Walks to be held at Ottawa Park.
