His lawyer, Manuel Fermín, declared that the engineer and former official has nothing to hide.
“This is a phase in which, what we may reveal to the press, could affect the objectivity of an investigation of this magnitude. The engineer Diandino Peña is a man who has nothing to hide and we have responded to the call of the Attorney General, ”Fermín said.
He said they trust the investigations carried out by the Attorney General’s Office.
Diandino Peña was seen walking slowly and visibly affected by health, with his left eye more closed than his right, however, when asked how he felt, he replied: “Good, good, good.”
He said that he feels able to respond and go as many times as the authorities require.
The former official of the governments of the Dominican Liberation Party arrived at the headquarters of this Public Ministry, located in the Centro de los Héroes (La Feria), at about 3:00 in the afternoon, to appear before the office of Wilson Camacho, director of Pepca, who questioned him.
The former director of the Opret is questioned in relation to alleged irregularities committed during his tenure at the Opret.
Peña began to be investigated after a complaint against him was filed with the Attorney General last month in which he is accused of having stolen more than RD $ 9.2 billion during his tenure at the head of the Opret, for which he would have used multiple companies.
