Boyko Borisov is the PP’s most meaningful ally in the current political reality. This is what Diana Damyanova – the former PR of Kiril Petkov and Asen Vassilev’s formation – thinks. At the same time, she expects that the PP will pay a very high price for this alliance.
“Boyko Borisov is the lesser enemy. He owes a great deal of guilt to the Bulgarian people, not because he was some kind of mafia boss, but because he had given Peevski power (Deputy businessman from DPS Delyan Peevski – note ed.). From there, all kinds of geshevs, this whole rotten system, in which everything was bought with money, were strung together. This is Borisov’s deep political debt. I think he’s trying to cut off his tail. He is a person of an age who wants to leave something good in history,” said Damyanova in an interview for the BNT program “Speak Now”. In the past, Damyanova was a PR for the leader of the Gerbers, as well as for Valentin Zlatev and LUKoil.
According to her, at the moment there is a “battle of clans” in the country, where Borisov is trying to “free himself from this heavy dependence that he had with the Peevski-Geshev group and their group of dwarf wards and everything that lives around.” According to her, Borisov had a wrong understanding of how the state is run – when there was a problem with two businessmen, he put them at the same table, they get along, but only to the point of stealing together. However, his current effort to “cut his tail” deserved respect, according to the publicist.
Damyanova described the attack by the chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev, who requested the immunity of Borisov, as “a very bad drama”. According to her, the head of the public prosecution is simulating an activity by summoning politicians for questioning without having anything real to threaten them with.
Regarding President Rumen Radev, Damyanova pointed out that he is looking for a constitutional option to change the state structure. According to her, Radev and Geshev are acting together at the moment, as their interests coincide.
Damyanova expressed skepticism that the constitutional change for which the government was formed will take place, as there will not be the necessary majority for it. He sees the problem in the fact that “on the first bank of the DPS sits a person who does not want the constitutional majority to happen.” It is implied that he is talking about Delyan Peevski. “I don’t think DPS is ready to cut its tail. In this sense, I do not see in DPS an ally for constitutional change, and then the question will arise as to why we ate these big frogs,” the publicist pointed out.
Regarding the house in Barcelona, which is officially owned by Alexander Chaushev, a former LUKoil executive, she stated that it was never mentioned to her that the house was related to the model Borislava Yovcheva, who lived there for several years. “And if I haven’t heard, then there is no such thing,” said Damyanova.
