“I want PaSoK to claim the government. I am going down to defeat Mr. Mitsotakis. The ND government should be replaced by a PASoK government”, underlined Anna Diamantopoulou in her television interview.
The candidate for the presidency of PaSoK explained that the New Democracy government failed to utilize the Recovery Fund, failed to strengthen the social state, while she emphasized that the “staff state” has become centralized and cannot manage crises such as the recent fires in Attica .
“ND is falling, SYRIZA is in vertigo, that’s why the country needs a social-democratic PASoK government with strong leadership. We are not looking for a leadership that will manage 12-13%, but a leadership that will win,” he said, speaking to the Star’s main news bulletin.
“PaSoK is not a crutch for cooperation”
Regarding the possible collaborations, Anna Diamantopoulou stated that in the opposition it is expected that there will be collaborations against the government’s policy, however, she clarified: “For me, PaSoK is not a crutch for collaboration with the Right or the Left. Us or Them is over. As long as the question arises ‘who will you work with?’, it shows defeatism”.
She unequivocally reiterated that she seeks to testify her experience of the last ten years and responded to the criticism that she has been “absent” in recent years from the proceedings at the PASoK.
“I did not give up, nor did I abstain from the processes in social democracy. I was present at the European level, with acts such as the formulation of the agenda for the modern welfare state adopted by the European Socialists”, pointed out Anna Diamantopoulou.
