After three educational lectures held at the Louvre Museum in Paris entitled “A Lesson with an Artist,” the closing session, on Saturday, will witness the participation of the pioneer of contemporary art, Michelangelo Pistoletto, in a dialogue with the art historian Donatien Grau. Dealing with the intersecting worlds of contemporary art, it will also serve as a celebration of the artist’s ninetieth birthday; It will highlight the deep relationship shared between artists and museums.
This dialogue session is scheduled to reveal details that shaped the artist’s decades-long career. Aisha Al-Ahmadi, Assistant Curator at Louvre Abu Dhabi, is also scheduled to present this session, while it will be moderated by Donatien Grau, Director of Contemporary Programs at the Louvre Museum in Paris. With the participation of Donatien on a journey in which we will explore the developments witnessed in Pistoletto’s artistic career, he will also shed light on the next stage of the artist’s career.
It is noteworthy that Michelangelo Pistoletto is a prominent Italian artist and the owner of prominent artistic theories, famous for his distinctive works that were displayed within the works of the “Arte Povera” movement, in addition to the famous mirror paintings that he created. Michelangelo Pistoletto was born in 1933 in the city of Biella, Italy, and for more than 5 decades he was one of the prominent figures in the field of art. He combined art and life through various means, including sculptural installations and performances. Michelangelo Pistoletto’s works have been exhibited in many museums around the world, and he has received prestigious awards such as the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale in 2003 and the Premium Imperiale for Painting in 2013.
