He added, re-measurement of blood pressure needs to be done several times to avoid false positives or false negatives. Because someone who experienced high blood pressure during the first measurement, it could be due to preparation or unsanitary physical condition.

Doctor Susetyo said that there are certain conditions that cause blood pressure to increase even though the person is not sick with hypertension.

“For example, before taking blood pressure measurements, the patient is anxious, sleep deprived, or exhausted from physical activity. So if someone admits that they have never or did not know they have hypertension before, then we recommend that the patient return to control at intervals of 1 to 4 weeks. do double checking, “he explained.

If after rechecking at least twice the blood pressure is in the hypertension category, according to doctor Susetyo, it can be concluded that the patient is suffering from hypertension. Re-measuring can also be done more quickly if you have a blood pressure measuring device at home.

You do this, by taking measurements independently for one week in a row every morning and night. Then record each measured blood pressure number. After that, bring the results during the control to the doctor.

“Then we will see what the average blood pressure is. That can also be a way to diagnose hypertension. So it should not be sentenced to someone during one visit. Unless there is one condition that we are sure of hypertensive patients,” he said.

Conditions that convince someone to be sick with hypertension even though it is only one measurement if the blood pressure is above 180/110 followed by complications of hypertension in the form of cardiovascular disease.
