Diablo IV It’s a party right up until you complete the main story. As your only goal becomes getting as much gear as possible, many players find the experience somewhat lackluster.
In particular, it didn’t feel like the switch towards the end of the game was as impressive as it could have been. But in a recent campfire chat the developers explained that they want to change this. “One of the things we want to think about more as we get to 2024 is that items should really be the start of a journey,” said Joseph Piepiora, Assistant Game Director. “When something falls to you as a player, you want to be able to take it and say, ‘This is amazing, I can’t wait to do X, Y and Z with this and do it really well’.”
Piepiora goes on to explain that the loot system is going to change to make your items more accessible, instead of you quickly glancing at the stats it gives and either adding it to your build or leaving it on the ground.
Some item changes will come with Season 3 in January, but for most of the big changes we’ll have to wait until Season 4, which launches sometime early next year.
