I’m going to express a positive hope here in the midst of all the negativity.
First of all, it’s good to know that these kinds of games are excellent for mobile devices, and where ‘mobile gaming’ is still seen by many as extremely negative, apart from maybe a sudoku once, this has been in my opinion for a long time no longer appropriate.
Apart from the fact that mobile gaming is extremely popular in Asia, for example, I also see the growing popularity here in the Netherlands.
Yes there are many gacha games, where you have to spend hundreds or even thousands to keep up, but there are also plenty of games where this is absolutely not necessary (eg because they focus on cosmetics to make money), or where it’s a piece of mentality.
And I suspect that this game will fall under the latter. There will definitely be cosmetics, but I also believe there will be all kinds of boosters and other things that they try to motivate people to pay.
However, if you’ve ever played Diablo, you’ll know that the game is all about the hack and slash grind. Just because your progression is slower than someone who pays doesn’t mean you’ll have less fun, because if you don’t like doing a run 3x as many times before you can continue, then you shouldn’t play Diablo.
Just to be clear, I’m not a fan of in-game purchases, I’m definitely out of the game buying era and that’s it. Even DLCs and expansions came later. But I do believe that this game can be really good on your phone. I think it’s premature to reject purely because of the microtransactions.
In any case, I’m curious about it, and sincerely believe that this has a good chance of being a very good mobile game, and that’s not like the old days where mobile games were inferior.
Ps for the people who hate touch, take a look at controllers. I myself have the Nacon MG-X Pro, one of the best controllers for phones (Xbox design, high quality with triggers), and use it with a Fold 3, nice combination also for emulating.
