Diablo II: Resurrected Preview – No more than alpha

These are good times for the older gamer. A polished version appears from one classic after another. Blizzard is also active in that area. It has received quite a bit of criticism over Warcraft III: Reforged, but is nonetheless working hard on an updated version of one of its other classics, which will be released as Diablo II: Resurrected.

Knowing Blizzard, that only happens ‘when it’s done’, but the time is already ripe for a public test of the game. A limited number of people had the opportunity to try out an alpha version of the game. The game was playable for a short time, mainly to give Blizzard a chance to test stability. In addition, it naturally offered the press, YouTubers and influencers the opportunity to get a taste of the game. We also managed to spend some hours in the game and not only looked at what Blizzard made of Diablo II: Resurrected. We also included the original from 2000, which is still playable under Windows 10.

Of course the graphic differences are clear. Not even so much between the original and Diablo II: Resurrected, but especially between the Legacy mode and the Resurrected mode in the new version of the game. Blizzard has ensured that – even while gaming – you can switch between the classic and the new look at the touch of a button. In the Legacy mode, the classic appearance, the game looks like two drops of water to the game from 2000. Or actually 2001, because for Resurrected the Blizzard goes back to the game as it was after the expansion Lord of Destruction had released.
