Diablo, the Lord of Fear, is moving out of CRT monitors and into HD screens everywhere. Available today, Diablo® II: Resurrected is the definitive remaster of Diablo II and the Lord of Destruction expansion. The genre-defining action RPG has been faithfully modernized to be more impressive, more accessible, and more fun than ever.
Designed to take full advantage of today’s gaming hardware, Diablo II: Resurrected supports screen resolutions up to 4K*. It also includes fully remastered Dolby Surround 7.1* audio so players don’t miss a single bloodcurdling scream. All 27 minutes of videos from the original game have also been remade with incredible high-fidelity visuals. While a lot of work went into bringing Diablo II into the modern era, preserving the authenticity of the experience was critical. The original game engine continues to operate behind the scenes, performing the same calculations and game logic as in the year 2000.
“Diablo II: Resurrected will introduce one of our most loved games to new audiences,” said Jen Oneal, co-leader of Blizzard Entertainment. “It was an honor for Vicarious Visions to team up with Blizzard and form the team that breathed new life into this classic. Everyone involved was motivated by a commitment to do justice to the players’ expectations, and I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished.”
Developed by Blizzard Entertainment and in-house studio Vicarious Visions, Diablo II: Resurrected was reborn on Windows PC through Battle.net and on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation5, PlayStation4 and Nintendo Switch system. With cross-platform progression, players can log into their Battle.net account on any system they purchased the game on to access their characters and loot items. To help bring Diablo II to more players than ever before, this remaster includes a wide range of accessibility and quality of life options. They allow players to fine-tune the individual experience without compromising classic gameplay. Accessibility improvements include:
- Controls compatibility on all platforms
- Font size adjustment, colorblind modes and readability options
- Wheel of emotes to streamline communication
- Adjusting volume on many audio channels
- Automatic gold collection
- Shared chest and bigger
- Extensive key binding options, including an assignable shortcut to “Interact” on controls, and much more
Diablo II: Resurrected features seven iconic playable character classes. Amazon, Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin and Mage: each offers rich and varied gameplay. The Druid and Slayer of Lord of Destruction are also back, fierce and elusive as ever. New 3D Heroes have upgrades to armor, clothing, skin textures, animations and more. The entire game has gone through a massive graphical overhaul, so Diablo II veterans will see Sanctuary in more detail than ever, like wearing prescription glasses for the first time. Though updated, Diablo II: Resurrected characters, monsters and environments continue to capture the dark atmosphere remembered by Diablo fans. Reliving those memories is also very easy. It is possible to switch between modern 3D graphics and the original 2D experience at the push of a button.
