Titan will launch a new series of Diablo comics seven years after the publisher first announced titles set in Blizzard’s dungeon crawler world. The new series, Diablo: Dawn of Hate, is written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by artist Daniel Serra, in collaboration with colorist Giovanna Plata. It is set after the events of Diablo 4: Ship of Hate, the game’s recent expansion pack.
While specific plot details for the new comic are currently scarce, Titan revealed that Diablo 4 and its first expansion, Ship of Hate, will explore the depths and poverty of Sanctuary as it struggles to rebuild after the catastrophic events.
Additionally, fans will get their first look at the comic on Free Comic Book Day, May 3, with the release of a special introductory issue. There’s no cover yet, but Titan has released a series of character design sheets by Daniele Serra.

This is not the first Diablo comic. In 2011, DC published a five-issue limited series based on the game, which was later collected under the title Diablo: Sword of Justice. More than a decade later, Blizzard itself published Diablo: Legends of the Barbarian – Bul-Kathos, a standalone graphic novel covering the life of the titular barbarian. This was followed earlier this year by Diablo: Legends of the Necromancer – Rathma.
Titan was originally scheduled to publish a four-issue limited series by legendary Marv Wolfman and artist Piotr Kowalski in 2018, but it was canceled shortly before publication with no official explanation as to why. Diablo: Dawn of Hate is a new story unrelated to this book and written by a completely different creative team.
Diablo: Dawn of Hatred is a free comic published by Titan Comics on May 3, 2025.
