Diablo 2: Resurrected – AVX support required to run the game

Yesterday the awaited took place premiere games Diablo 2: Resurrected. Unfortunately, it was not without problems, because at the start many players could not even start the game due to overloaded servers. It turns out that this is not the only problem that Blizzard developers will have to deal with. From the premiere on various forums (incl Reddit and official Blizzard forum) players complain that they cannot start the game. The problem is apparently the lack of support for AVX (Advanced Vector Extensions) technology, i.e. advanced instruction sets for individual processors. AVX support it was not listed as necessary in the minimum hardware requirementsso for players whose computer sets do not meet this point, this has become a key problem. It must be added that since 2011 most processors are compatible with AVX, so most likely it is a problem with slightly older processors, or exceptions from a later period. On a similar case ?? æ he suffered Cyberpunk 2077, but the recent hotfix did the trick. There the problems with slightly older processors have been fixed.

After at the moment Blizzard referred to the subject only through one of the customer service employees with the pseudonym Drakuloth:

The reason we have not reported our suspicions regarding AVX is because we are not yet sure if this is the actual cause. Remember that we are just a Customer Service Department ?? we are not working on the motor itself, so our insight into how it works is limited. However, I can say that if this turns out to be the source of the problem, the game does not work as intended? AVX support was not meant to be required in the game, so if the engine requires it, this is unexpected behavior.

The investigation continues. We’ll let you know when we find out what? more.

A few hours later the employee updated his statement ?? and announced that a patch to fix the bug is on its way:

As mentioned by other players, the team has identified the problem and is currently working on a patch. We don’t know yet how long it will take and when the update will be released, but the problem should resolve itself for most players with hardware that meets the system requirements.

Until the AVX situation is resolved, the best solution is to check for yourself whether your CPU supports these solutions. If you want to find out how to do it, go ahead here. And of course, be patient until the error is corrected.
