“Diabetics and the public are advised not to consume foods with too much blood sugar levels when fasting, as long as fasting, they should maintain their diet and activity patterns despite the pandemic,” he said in a press release, written on Thursday.

Foods such as dates, whole wheat bread, oatmeal, as well food others that contain high fiber are highly recommended as a menu for breaking the fast.

Besides diet which needs to be regulated, consuming enough mineral water is highly recommended to maintain energy during fasting. Felicia said, people with diabetes during fasting don’t need to worry, because by fasting slowly, diet, lifestyle, and other things related to diabetes become one of the many ways to overcome diabetes problems.

They also need to be able to balance their diet and exercise patterns. Do not let sports activities only to dig holes that cover the holes due to excessive eating.

Fasting itself for diabetes patients, according to Felicia, has a number of benefits, including: increasing endurance, holding back from eating which leads to improving a bad diet and regulating blood sugar levels.

But he warned, not all diabetes patients can fast, namely those who have symptoms of hypoglycemia.

“For chronic diabetes sufferers, such as having symptoms of hypoglycemia that can be life threatening, it is advisable not to fast and bring a supply of sweet foods such as candy when symptoms start to appear,” he said, who graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia.
