Diabetes: screening operations at the Chartres health center in January and February

The operation began on Monday January 10 and will be held, punctually, throughout the month of January. Days dedicated to diabetes information and screening are organized by the Chartres multipurpose health centre.

“It happens at any age,” recalls Céline Gutowski, head of the health center. These screening operations are essential to help people manage the disease, according to the head of the center.

But screening for diabetes also makes it possible to know whether people have risk factors, or are genetically predisposed to be prone to the disease, in the medium or long term.

Céline Gutowski also specifies that these days make it possible to raise public awareness of healthy lifestyles, sedentary lifestyles and bad eating habits, to avoid illnesses. “Early detection is essential for learning to live with the disease”.

Breast cancer detection workshops in February

The month of February will also be under the theme of screening at the Chartres health center. Breast cancer awareness and detection workshops, including self-examination, will be organized throughout the month, “mainly in priority neighborhoods”, says the head of the center.

“We had already organized this type of day on the occasion of Pink October. But the fight against breast cancer is not just in October.”

The Chartres health center has taken the initiative to organize these screening days, once every three months.

“We manage to mobilize women mainly by word of mouth. It’s not easy for everyone to take the initiative to come to the workshops, depending on their relationship to the body, their culture, their education. But it’s important to do so”.

In October, these actions raised awareness among 1,400 women, according to the manager. “We hope to raise as much awareness.”

Convenient. Diabetes screening Thursday, January 13 at the Marché d’Isidore solidarity grocery store, from 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. January 21, 24 and 25 at the multipurpose health center, during opening hours at 32 rue de Brétigny in Chartres. Free and without appointment.
