The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UNS Prof Reviono explained that diabetes For people with Covid-19 it is very dangerous because it causes a decrease in immunity.
In addition to lowering immunity, diabetes can suppress the number of immune cells and their function.
“If diabetes mellitus is the biggest decrease in immunity, because these immune cells are suppressed,” said Reviono when contacted Kompas.comWednesday (16/2/2022).

Reviono explained, the death of Covid-19 patients with comorbid diabetes in Indonesia is quite a lot. This is because many Indonesian people suffer from diabetes.
For diabetics who are exposed to the corona virus, it is recommended that they be hospitalized even though they have mild symptoms.
“Because at the hospital, comorbid patients will receive 2 kinds of drugs, drugs for the corona virus and drugs for comorbid diseases,” he said again.
People with diabetes are also advised to always control their blood sugar regularly so that their immunity becomes better.
“If you have diabetes, if your blood sugar levels are controlled, your immunity will be better than those who are not controlled,” he explained.
