Diabetes in Children Increases, Suspicious when Weight Loss and Wetting the Bed at Night – Tribun Bekasi

TRIBUNBEKASI.COM, JAKARTA — Not only in adults, cases of diabetes in children are also increasing.

As in adults, diabetes in children is just as dangerous.

Many factors play a role in the incidence of diabetes in children.

However, according to some studies, for type 1 diabetes the main cause is infection during pregnancy and repeated infections in the first two years of life.

Dietary factors have also been studied, in this case the consumption of cow’s milk, but it turns out that the effect on the incidence of type 1 diabetes is not significant or has a very small effect.

As is known, diabetes is divided into type 1 and type 2.

Type 1 diabetes is a condition of high blood sugar levels due to the body not producing enough insulin. Type 1 diabetes is classified as an autoimmune disease that usually occurs in children and adolescents.

While type 2 diabetes is a long-term disease that occurs when the body cannot use insulin effectively, causing blood sugar levels to increase.

IDAI data shows that pediatric diabetes patients are generally aged 10-14 years with a total of around 46 percent of the total number reported.

Type 1 diabetes occurs due to low insulin levels due to damage to pancreatic beta cells.

People with this disease must get regular insulin injections to prevent complications.

Meanwhile, type 2 diabetes is caused by the pancreas gland not being able to meet the body’s need for insulin, so that insulin does not function optimally.
