DI-RECT has been nominated for the Golden Nutcracker for the third year in a row. The prize is presented annually by the copyright organization Sena and the Dutch Toonkunstenaarsbond (NTB) to the musician with the most exceptional and influential live performance.
The ceremony will take place on September 22 in the Amsterdam pop stage Paradiso. In addition to the Hague band DI-RECT, Akwasi, Chef ‘Special, Danny Vera, DeWolff, Eefje de Visser, Fresku, Henny Vrienten, Michelle David & the Gospel Sessions and Typhoon have also been nominated.
In the previous two nominations, DI-RECT always missed the prize. In 2018, the honorary title went to Portuguese singer Magda Mendes, while last year the Amsterdam band My Baby took off with the title.
The 35,000 musicians who are members of Serena and NTB can vote for the nominees in the coming months.
Due to the corona crisis, it is not yet clear in what form the ceremony will take place in Paradiso. In any case, the presentation is in the hands of Jan-Willem Roodbeen, presenter at NPO Radio 2.
