“That year we won the Copa del Rey with Real Madrid. I had a good year. When my daughter was born, a week later we played against Atlético and I scored a goal for her. It was complicated because in the hospital, we could only see her twice a day. In the evening, we had to go home without our daughter. It was very hard, having to leave and not knowing what was going to happen the next day. Sometimes we would arrive and there were other children who were no longer there. You would ask and they would say that they had died because of a virus or because ‘they had stopped breathing,’ he said.
