Dhoni’s Role in Rahane’s Unexpected Return to Indian Test team for WTC Final

Mumbai: Veteran Ajinkya Rahane’s inclusion in the Indian squad for the World Test Championship final was unexpected. The player, who was out of the team for a long time, is batting in brilliant form in the current IPL season. But this batting excellence is not the reason for his unexpected return to the Test team.

There is a report that former Indian captain and Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has a crucial role in the return of the former vice-captain. BCCI had sought Dhoni’s opinion before the team selection. According to the report, Rahane returned to the team after Dhoni waved the green flag for his teammate’s return to the Indian team.

Rahane is currently playing for Chennai Super Kings under Dhoni. The player is scoring runs for the team in the current IPL season. The player continues to be in form with a strike rate of 199. Rahane, who has played five matches, has so far scored 209 runs at an average of 52, including two fifties.

The World Test Championship will be played at the Oval in England from June 7. India’s opponents are Australia. Shardu Thakur has also returned to the team along with Rahane.
