TRIBUNPONTIANAK.CO.ID, SINTANG – A child in Sintang died from the bite of an Aedes aegypti mosquito. The child with the initials IB, aged 5 years, was rushed to the Ade M Djoen Sintang Regional General Hospital because he was attacked by Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).
Unfortunately, his life could not be saved. The child, a resident of Central Ketungau Subdistrict, Sintang, was declared dead on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at around 02.34 WIB with the diagnosis of Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS).
“Yes, that’s right (patient DBD died),” said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control (Head of P2P) public health Office (Diskes) Sintang District, Darmadi, confirmed Tribune, Sunday 9 January 2022.
From the information compiled by the Tribune, the boy began to feel symptoms of fever on January 4, 2022. Then, on January 7, he was rushed to the hospital. After undergoing treatment, the child’s life could not be saved. IB was declared dead on Saturday.

IB’s death, became a case DBD the first to die in 2022. Since a number of areas in Sintang were affected by floods at the end of 2021, the Sintang Health Office noted, there have been around 80 cases DBD.
The number tends to decrease. However, the public is advised to remain vigilant, especially in the school environment.
“We urge the public to be aware of the DBD, because this is an endemic disease in Sintang District. Immediately take him to the hospital if there is a family member who has a fever so that he can get help,” he urged Darmadi.
