DHF Increases, Residents Do Self-Fogging

SOLO, KOMPAS.TV – Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) are increasingly prevalent in Solo, Central Java. In February alone there were 12 cases, whereas in 2021 there were only 29 cases of dengue. As a precautionary measure, residents also carry out fogging or fumigation independently.

This self-help fumigation was carried out in the Pucangsawit area of Solo, Sunday (20/2/2022) morning. Residents smoke in places that are often mosquito breeding grounds, such as public toilets, sewers, and gardens with lots of wild trees.

In addition, residents’ homes were also not spared from spraying. The condition of houses that are close together and lack of sunlight is thought to be a breeding ground for the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

Residents do fumigation, because there have been three cases of dengue fever in the Pucangsawit area. Even though they have reported to the puskesmas, there has been no action so the residents have taken the initiative to do fumigation independently.

“The disease from outside or from our own environment cannot answer for sure, sir. We will follow up so that everything can be fogged so that the community members have enthusiasm,” said Subroto, a local resident.

The case of dengue hemorrhagic fever in Solo is currently experiencing a fairly high increase. In the second month alone, there have been 12 cases reported. In fact, throughout 2021, there were only 29 cases of dengue fever. Of course, this is a common concern, in addition to the handling of Covid-19 which is still being carried out.
