DHF Increases, Commission IV Asks Sampang Health Office to Immediately Do Fogging

Sampang, (Media Madura) – The number of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Sampang Regency has continued to increase in the last three years. To that end, the DPRD requested that the Department of Health and Family Planning (Dinkes-KB) take quick action in prevention efforts.

“The Health Office must immediately carry out fogging at areas with dengue fever in an effort to prevent the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito,” said Member of Commission IV of the Sampang DPRD Ach Heriyanto Shaleh, Wednesday (12/1/2022).

This effort, continued the politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB), is very important in order to minimize the number of dengue fever sufferers which is increasing day by day. Along with the high intensity of rain, the potential for the spread of mosquitoes is higher.

“Don’t wait until you fall victim, the budget allocation at the Health Office is already there, there must be spraying, especially now it’s the rainy season,” he said.

Data from the Sampang Health Office-KB said the number of dengue cases in 2019 was 152 people. This number increased in 2020 to 229 cases. Meanwhile, in 2021, it will decrease to 208 cases.

Heri said that the number of hundreds of dengue fever sufferers in Sampang was not a small number and was taken lightly. So he again asked the relevant agencies to take immediate action.

On the other hand, he also urges parents to implement early prevention efforts by adopting a healthy lifestyle and maintaining cleanliness.

“Don’t take it lightly,” he said.

The head of the Health Office-KB Sampang, Dr Abdullah Najich, responded to the DPRD statement. He claimed that his party had carried out fogging in areas with dengue fever.

“Including, we are reminded again through socialization to behave in a clean and healthy life, namely the 3M method,” said Najich.

Even so, the principle of preventing DHF is not only that but the most important thing is to ensure that the Aedes aegypti mosquito is not bitten by using a mosquito repellent so that it does not breed at home.

“This clean and healthy lifestyle is the most important thing,” he said.

He added, there are several factors that influence the emergence of DHF, among others, low immune status, population density of transmitting mosquitoes in slum areas and puddles of water around settlements.

“So with this high intensity of rainfall, we need to be vigilant too,” he said. (Ryan/Zainol)
