DHF in NTB Translucent 386 Cases, Most Bima and Bima City

Mataram

Cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in 10 urban districts in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) reached 386 cases in early 2023. Head of the Prevention and Infectious Diseases Section of the NTB Health Service (Dinkes) Zainul Arifin revealed that DHF cases in the two regions had increased 100 percent.

“Yes (increase) compared to last year, in the same month it will increase 100 percent in Bima and Bima City. We predict it will increase until March. Because the peak will be in February-March,” said Zainul, Thursday (1/2/2023).

According to Zainul, judging from last year’s cases, in the same month, the two areas experienced a significant increase in dengue cases. Even theoretically, the City of Bima and Bima Regency should be included in the category of extraordinary events (KLB).

“Theoretically, they can enter an outbreak because they have fulfilled and entered an outbreak. The death rate there is already 12 people. In Bima Regency, 8 and Bima City have 4 deaths,” he explained.

According to Zainul, the high number of deaths in the two areas should become a serious concern for the local government. This is because the death rate for dengue cases has reached 12 people.

“Just one life that dies is very heavy. This is not about lives. Last year it was low this year it was high. Even one person died should concern all of us,” he said.

Zainul explained that basically DHF cases always occur in NTB throughout the year. However, cases of DHF earlier this year experienced a significant increase in cases.

“Yes, the total number of DHF cases throughout the year is always there. We can see that the lowest DHF cases are in August, although they still exist,” he said.

Zainul also explained that the cause of the increase in DHF cases in NTB was influenced by two factors. Namely environmental conditions and behavioral factors.

“This weather goes into environmental factors, the two of which are interrelated. The rain is gone, the rain is gone, the potential for high standing water. However, even though our environment is clean, the behavior is not good. It will still happen too,” he explained.

In addition, said Zainul, mosquito eradication Temples of the Egyptians nesting in the house should be checked regularly. Because of mosquitoes Temples of the Egyptians will not lay eggs in a dirty place but vice versa.

“He nests in a clean place. This mosquito doesn’t want to stay up too late. Usually this mosquito bites at 07.00-09.00. Usually also in the afternoon between 15.00-17.00 WITA,” he said.

Zainul detailed the findings of DHF cases in 10 urban districts in NTB, including:

1. West Lombok 47 cases
2. Mataram 27 cases
3. Central Lombok 21 cases
4. North Lombok 54 cases
5. West Sumbawa 39 cases
6. Dompu 36 cases
7. Bima 75 cases
8. City of Bima 87 cases.

“Two districts of East Lombok and Sumbawa have not reported cases to date,” he concluded.
