DHF Cases Increase in South Jakarta Since November, 176 Residents Infected

JAKARTA – Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever ( DBD ) has increased in the South Jakarta area during November to December 2021. At least, there are hundreds of residents who have contracted dengue from January to December 2021.

“As of December, the total number of dengue fever is 600 (DHF cases),” said Head of South Jakarta Health Department M Helmi when contacted by reporters, Saturday (12/18/2021). Read too: Preventing Dengue Fever, a Number of Residents in Jakarta Fogging

According to him, there are 600 residents aged toddlers to adults who have contracted dengue fever in South Jakarta from January to December 2021. 424 residents were infected with dengue fever during January-November 2021, while 176 residents were infected in December 2021.

However, he said, the current number of dengue cases was lower than in 2020. In 2020, there were 1,016 cases of dengue fever in 10 sub-districts in South Jakarta.

“Still lower than last year. Last year around 1000. This year 600 (cases). Compared to last year, it was higher last year,” he said.

He added, in order to continue to aggressively carry out draining, closing and burying (3M) movements which can trigger puddles of water for mosquito breeding. Handling of dengue fever is carried out early through a cadre of larva monitoring interpreters (jumantik), both independently and in the RT environment.

“We are also running an independent jumantik so that residents can clean themselves. We are still doing that,” he said.
