DHF Cases in Sikka Rise, Health Office Asks Health Centers to Routinely Kill Mosquito Larvae

MAUMERE, KOMPAS.com – Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the District Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), increased sharply in early 2022.

Secretary of the Sikka Health Service, Clara Francis, explained that there were 40 Sikka residents who had DHF as of Thursday (13/1/2022). Of that number, one patient died.

To anticipate the increase in dengue cases in Sikka, the health office issued a written directive to all puskesmas. The directive contains about increasing early awareness of dengue cases.

The health office asked all puskesmas to coordinate with the sub-district head and village head or lurah to eradicate mosquito larvae on a regular basis.

In addition, the puskesmas together with the sub-district head and the village head were also asked to follow up on the Regent’s Instruction Number: 1/HK/2021 regarding dengue vigilance.

“Every case of dengue fever must be watched out for as dengue fever, so that larvae eradication activities are carried out and reported to the health department within 2×24 hours,” said Clara in a written statement received. Kompas.com, Friday (14/1/2022).

Puskesmas are also asked to monitor dengue hemorrhagic fever patients, especially children, who are in hospitals, clinics, or private doctors.

“Patient development must be monitored by the puskesmas,” he said.

The health office also asked the puskesmas to socialize the Sikka Regent’s appeal regarding early dengue vigilance in a number of public places.

Health centers are also required to carry out regular evaluations of the activities and roles of healthy friends and rapid response teams for dengue prevention in their respective areas.

“Coordination with school principals in their respective areas for activities to eradicate mosquito nests in school areas,” said Clara.
