DENPASAR – Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Denpasar, Bali, have almost doubled. From January to March 2022, 318 cases were recorded due to the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

“In the same period last year, there were only 183 cases,” said Head of the Denpasar Health Service, Luh Putu Sri Armini, Wednesday (6/4/2022).

The increase is seen from the first quarter of 2021 and 2022. In January 2022 there were 176 cases, then it jumped sharply compared to January 2021 as many as 26 cases.

Then in February 2022 there were 73 cases, an increase compared to the same month last year as many as 56 cases.

“In March 2022, 108 cases were recorded. While in the same month last year there were 101 cases. People are expected to apply clean living behavior and bury every place that has the potential to create larvae nests,” he explained.

He also reminded that fogging is not effective in eliminating dengue cases. “He can only kill adult mosquitoes. The larvae stay alive and the next day they become mosquitoes,” he concluded.
