The round of 16 in the DHB Cup was drawn on Friday morning. While HSV Hamburg has to travel to Flensburg, record winner Kiel again has to deal with a second division team.

Although two second-round games will not be played until November, the round of 16 was already set on Friday: SC DHfK Leipzig and Rhein-Neckar Löwen are still fighting for a ticket to the round of 16 on November 2nd, second division club Ludwigshafen will meet on November 22nd. November on Master Magdeburg.
It is already clear who the respective winner will meet. The round of 16 from the Bundesliga duel Leipzig-Löwen has to go to MT Melsungen, the Eulen or Magdeburg meet Bergische HC at home.
Now it has just become one of the longest possible away tours.

SG Flensburg-Handewitt, who knocked out Füchse Berlin 34:32 on Wednesday, meets HSV Hamburg in a Bundesliga duel with veteran Johannes Bitter, who is about to play his 600th Bundesliga game this weekend. There will be another first division comparison between the promoted teams: ASV Hamm-Westfalen welcomes VfL Gummersbach, but is certainly an outsider given their 2:12 points in the league. Gummersbach is currently at 9:5 points.
With SG BBM Bietigheim (vs. THW Kiel), TV Großwallstadt (vs. HSG Wetzlar) and HC Elbflorenz Dresden (vs. TBV Lemgo Lippe), three second division clubs can look forward to a home game against a Bundesliga club. Bietigheim, coached by Spain’s handball icon Iker Romero, who had to go down a class directly after promotion in 2019, is looking forward to record winner Kiel. The defending champion ended another second division dream early on Thursday in Potsdam.
“We would of course have wished for a home game for and with our fans shortly before Christmas,” commented THW Managing Director Viktor Szilagyi on the draw: “Now it’s just become one of the longest possible away tours.”
The round of 16, drawn by the two internationals Laetitia Quist and Malina Marie Michalczik (sister of Marian Michalczik), is scheduled for December 21st and 22nd. Exact dates will be announced later.
