Melsungen / Erlangen. Exactly 24 days after the Bundesliga match, MT Melsungen and HC Erlangen meet in the second round of the DHB Cup. With a success in national cup competition, Northern Hesse can take revenge on the unfortunate 34:34 draw at the end of September.
The venue is not the huge Nuremberg arena, as usual with Franconian league appearances, but the much smaller Karl-Heinz-Hiersemann-Halle in Erlangen. The launch is scheduled for 7:30 pm on Wednesday. The game can be viewed live on sportdeutschland.tv.
Room for individual cases
While the Franconians usually play championship games in the 8,500-seat Nürnberger Versicherung Arena in Nuremberg, they will remain in their hometown for the 2nd round of the DHB Cup. The motto of the next cup duel is obviously clear: Northern Hesse wants to enter the next round! In addition, Roberto Garcia Parrondo relies on almost the same cast as last time in Magdeburg. That means, still with Elvar Örn Jonsson, but still without Domagoj Pavlovic. Furthermore, Finn Lemke, Timo Kastening, Julius Kühn and Rogério Moraes are still missing. This time, the two young Manuel Hörr (17, defender) and Lasse Ohl (17, circle) will be present from the prospect team.
No reason for poor performance
In addition to the staff situation, the requirements for this cup match on both sides are different for another reason: While four players from the Franconian team were on international duty last week, MT has ten players eliminated for matches on the European Parquet. Success story of the Erlangen Cup
MT prepared for HC Erlangen with two training sessions and have already started their trip to Franconia on Tuesday afternoon. Because the HC around former MT professional Johannes Sellin participated in the semi-finals of the REWE Final Four in Hamburg on April 23 this year.
