Dharma Pongrekun’s controversial statement in the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election Debate

Candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta serial number 2 Dharma Pongrekun attracted public attention due to several controversial statements during the first gubernatorial election debate DKI Jakarta 2024.

Dharma questioned the government’s policy in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. He also admitted that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) was disturbing the sovereignty of the state.

One of the points made by the individual candidate was that the Covid-19 pandemic was a foreign record. He said this when asked by DKI Jakarta gubernatorial candidate number 1 Ridwan Kamil.

Dharma called AI a spy tool when he was talking about internet independence for the country. He said that Indonesia’s internet has so far not been independent, as evidenced by the various data leaks that have occurred.

He believes that globalization is a world without limits, but the use of the Internet must be limited. Then he talked about the use of AI.

Dharma Pongrekun supports Pramono Anung, candidate for DKI Jakarta Governor number 3, as president. He said this when he answered Pramono’s question about internet independence.

Dharma said that he was able to become the Deputy Chief of BSSN because he was appointed by Pramono. He admitted that he got the recipe from Pramono and that he could complete this task.

“I am at BSSN because of him (Pramono). He put me in charge. I took the task seriously and got the recipe. I hope that Mas Pram will be the president so that we can to make the internet independent,” he said.
