Hamburg (dpa / lno) – Hamburg’s DGB chairman Tanja Chawla has called on employers to better protect women against violence, harassment and sexual assault in the workplace. Many victims did not fight back. “Often because they do not know their rights enough or because they do not receive support in their environment,” said Chawla on Thursday on the international day against violence against women. “Here companies have a duty and must take responsibility in order to protect their employees.”
Chawla emphasized in a statement that companies are legally obliged to do so and many have already set a good example. “But there have to be more to take measures such as: set up complaint offices and have contact persons ready for the victims, initiate measures against perpetrators, implement counseling offers and preventive measures – but at least the simple bulletin board with the emergency number for professional and quick help should be be the standard. “
