DFZ paid nearly BGN 9 million in compensation to the Fisheries-Agro Plovdiv sector – 2024-09-02 13:23:57

Another 915 thousand were transferred for two projects of the municipality of Burgas

State Fund “Agriculture” (DFZ) paid over BGN 11 million (BGN 11,206,824) to fishing businesses and municipalities under the Maritime Affairs Program and fisheries (PMDR 2014-2020). The financial support was transferred to the accounts of a total of 106 beneficiaries, of which 104 are implementing private investments. The other two project belong to the municipality of Burgas.

The largest amount of funds, in the amount of BGN 8,678,926, was paid out under measure 5.3 “Measures for market supply” of the PMDR 2014-2020. The grant was deposited into the accounts of 86 beneficiaries in the form of compensation to mitigate the effects of war of Russia against Ukraine, which affected the fishing industry and the aquaculture sector.

Another 14 companies receive compensation of BGN 259,136 under measure 1.9 “Temporary suspension of fishing activities as a result of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, which threatens the security of fishing activities or hinders the economic viability of fishing operations”.

A total of BGN 915,757 has been authorized to the Municipality of Burgas for the implementation of two projects agreed under measure 1.8 “Fishing ports, landing piers, fish markets and marinas” of the Program. The first payment, in the amount of BGN 518,816, is for a project to modernize the existing marina in Chengene Skele. The grant is granted for faster and better unloading of the catch on land, as well as for improving the safety and working conditions of fishermen.

BGN 396,941 was transferred for the second project, which the municipality of Burgas is working on. The funds are used to modernize the existing infrastructure of the marina in Kraymorie quarter, Burgas city. The investment will also improve the safety and working conditions of fishermen.
