DFW Weather: Hot, Dry Weather Continues

We have a heat advisory to start the week. A little break in the extreme heat is possible for the end of the week.

DALLAS — We hit 102° Sunday afternoon. yes that is still caliente! But after starting last week with highs of 106-109, he’s been feeling a little better. We will add more triple-digit hot days to our totals.

In English: Hot and dry continues. Is there relief on the horizon?

Monday

It’s going to be hot… again… no rain. The same history!

For those who follow the data: Sunday was the 29th 100th day of the year. We’re close with 2011 and 1998. 29 100 days to this point is impressive. A typical summer in North Texas averages 20.

Also, it’s been dry.
Rain has fallen in parts of North Texas and even parts of D-FW. But officially at the D-FW airport, no rain has been observed.
Drought conditions will continue to worsen until we get a big rain in North Texas. So far, 2022 is on track to be the 10th driest year on record.

Later this week and through the weekend, a front will stop near or just north of the Red River. This scenario would leave most of Texas without much rain.

The best it will do is bring some rain to the Panhandle and a few scattered thunderstorms to NTX Friday through Sunday. Anything more than highs a little below 100° and scattered showers and thunderstorms seems unlikely. But at least it’s something!
