September 19, 2024 – The German Football League DFL is breaking new ground in international marketing to increase the popularity and growth of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga on the American continent in the long term and sustainably. Together with the Relevent Sports Group, the leading football marketing specialists in America, the DFL will significantly expand its marketing and sales activities in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean in the coming years.
A key step is to immediately establish a team based in New York City (USA) and Guadalajara (Mexico) with experts for content, marketing, PR and sales that will focus primarily on the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga. By realigning and increasing sales, which will lead to a significant expansion of the existing workforce, will allow much closer to the individual markets and the media companies there. In addition, the team will produce cross-media content that will be specially designed for fans in 35 countries on the American continent, for example by focusing on Bundesliga players from these countries .
Marketing of media rights from 2026/27
As part of the long-term cooperation, Relevent Sports will also be commissioned with the central marketing of media rights to Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga matches across the American continent from the 2026/27 season over several rights cycles. From the 2024/25 season, Relevent Sports will also receive a special marketing mandate to conclude sponsorship partnerships for the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga for the American market.
