DFB imposes fines on Freiburg, Leipzig and Union

Frankfurt/MainThe sports court of the German Football Association has imposed fines on the Bundesliga clubs SC Freiburg, RB Leipzig and 1. FC Union Berlin for fan misconduct.

The Breisgauers have to pay 67,000 euros after at least 67 Bengal fires were lit by their supporters at the DFB Cup final in Berlin on May 21. The association may use a third of the sum for safety-related or infrastructural measures. This also applies to Leipzig, who have to pay 24,000 euros. RB fans had ignited at least 18 Bengal fires, two smoke bombs, a blinker and a rocket in the game.

With the fine of 15,000 euros imposed on Union on Monday, the sports court punished unsportsmanlike behavior by Berlin fans in the Bundesliga game against VfL Bochum on May 14. At least 15 Bengal fires and incense were lit.
