Frankfurt / Main (dpa) – The second division soccer team 1. FC Nürnberg opens the first round of the DFB Cup from a Bavarian point of view. The Middle Franconians are visiting FC Oberneuland in Bremen on Saturday, August 12 (3:30 p.m.). A few hours later, SpVgg Greuther Fürth meets Hallesches FC (6 p.m.). This emerges from the appointments of the German Football Association on Wednesday.
Third division promoted SpVgg Unterhaching is expecting Bundesliga side FC Augsburg on Sunday, August 13 (3:30 p.m.). Unterhaching takes part in the DFB Cup for the first time since the 2017/18 season. In the last four seasons, Augsburg never managed to qualify for the round of 16. In their fourth participation in the main round of the DFB Cup, regional league winners FV Illertissen meet second division club Fortuna Düsseldorf at the same time. Second division relegated Jahn Regensburg meets last year’s league rivals 1. FC Magdeburg on Monday (6 p.m.).
The first round will not be decided until September 26 (8.45 p.m. / ZDF and Sky) by FC Bayern Munich at third division promoted Preussen Münster and on September 27 (8.45 p.m. / ARD and Sky) by cup defender RB Leipzig at second division returnees SV Wehen Wiesbaden . The reason for the late appointments of the German champions and the cup winners is the Supercup, which will be held in Munich on August 12th. The other 30 encounters are scheduled for the second weekend in August.
