The lot has been drawn: Eintracht Frankfurt travels to third division team Viktoria Köln in the second round of the cup. The club eliminated Werder Bremen 3-2 in the first round. Cologne’s sporting director Stephan Küsters said: “For us, a sold-out stadium is a joy. We enjoy it!” Olaf Janßen, Cologne coach, played for Eintracht from 1996 to 2000.

Sports director Markus Krösche said about the draw: “Viktoria Cologne eliminated Werder Bremen in the first round. So we have been warned and know that Cologne has a good team. We definitely want to winter in the cup and will do everything we can to live up to our role as favorites become.” Eintracht will prepare for a “cup fight,” continued Krösche.

Games on October 31st and 1.11.

Lottery Shkodran Mustafi said before the draw: “There are a lot of Eintracht fans in my home country. They have already told me that they want a home game.” The former national player comes from Bad Hersfeld. The home game plan didn’t work out, but Frankfurt were lucky enough to have drawn one of the five remaining third division teams.

Eintracht Frankfurt is the last remaining Hessian participant in the DFB Cup. In the first round, Eintracht won 7-0 at Lok Leipzig in August. Darmstadt lost in Homburg, Wehen Wiesbaden lost against RB Leipzig and FSV Frankfurt lost against Hansa Rostock on penalties. The second round games will take place on October 31st and November 1st. Last season, Eintracht reached the final but lost to Leipzig.
