The control committee of the German Football Association has initiated preliminary proceedings against the Leverkusen professional soccer player Kerem Demirbay. The midfielder spoke about referee Felix Brych in a TV interview after Bayer’s Bundesliga game at VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday. “The referee really gets on my nerves. It’s crazy. I hope he doesn’t blow his whistle for us so much in the future,” said Demirbay, who previously received his tenth yellow card of the season and will be sidelined in the next game.
The 28-year-old was asked to comment, after which the control committee will decide on the further course of the process.
