The US series “Dexter” about a police forensic scientist who practices vigilante justice as a serial killer continues after an eight-year break: Season 9 is scheduled to start in the fall.

Stuttgart – The finale of the series “Dexter” in 2013 had a back door: The serial killer Dexter didn’t die at the end of the 8th season, he just faked his death. It had long been clear that there would be a sequel, now US media are reporting details: The 9th season “Dexter: New Blood” is scheduled to start on November 7th on “Showtime”.

“The end was disappointing for many viewers,” “Deadline” quotes the lead actor Michael C. Hall, who recently spoke at a convention. “I asked myself what happened to this guy.” You have now had enough time to think of an interesting continuation of the story. The ninth season has ten episodes.

Frosty north instead of sunny Florida

The series “Dexter” ran from 2006 to 2013 and revolves around a man from the crime scene detection department in Miami, who secretly practices vigilante justice on criminals. In the new season, as in real life, eight years should have passed, Dexter should have changed in many ways. A first trailer gives some clues as to what to expect: frosty country life in the north of the US state of New York instead of the beach atmosphere in Florida.

Dexter’s name is now Jim Lindsay and he runs a gun shop. During the entire time, he managed to curb his mental disorder and no longer murder – which may change quickly as the story progresses.

On the side of the makers, showrunner Clyde Phillips as well as producer and director Marcos Siega are back on board. The actress Julia Jones, last seen in an episode of the series “The Mandalorian”, will play a police chief of Indian origin.
