Rudraprayag. The registration of pilgrims for the Kedarnath Yatra has been stopped till May 8 due to the possibility of bad weather in the Kedarnath Valley for the next 3 to 4 days. In view of the possibility of deteriorating weather in Kedarghati, the government has taken this decision keeping in view the safety of the devotees. According to the records of the Uttarakhand Tourism Department, 1.26 lakh pilgrims have already registered themselves for the Yatra on May 10. While till May 4, 1.23 lakh devotees had visited Kedarnath Dham. The Kedarnath Dham Yatra route was closed on Thursday afternoon after a piece of glacier broke off at Bhairon. Now it has been opened for pilgrims traveling on foot.
According to a government release, personnel of DDMA, SDRF, DDRF, NDRF, YMF and police have completed the work of clearing snow from a glacier and the route for the Kedarnath Yatra has been made accessible for the pilgrims on foot. The travel route for horses and mules has not yet been opened. Workers are doing the work of removing snow fast. Significantly, the road between Bhairav and Kuber Gadere was closed after a glacier broke. SDRF, DDRF, NDRF and police personnel are deployed on the glaciers for the safety of the yatris and to help them in crossing the glacier so that no unusual incident takes place.

The administration has asked SDRF, DDRF, NDRF, YMF, police personnel, officers and employees to join the travel arrangements for the safety of the laborers engaged in the work of snow removal.
