Devin White has asked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a trade. Apparently, the 25-year-old wants to continue his career elsewhere.
- Buccaneers show no interest in a trade
- Edmunds received 72 million for four years
- Weak season 2022
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are said to be showing little interest in getting rid of their linebacker, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who reported first. White is entering the final year of his rookie contract and will earn $11.7 million under the fifth-year option next season. In addition, the future in Tampa would be open to him. Lavonte David, his partner at the inside linebacker position, is 33 and extended by a year this offseason.
Perhaps the financial ideas of the team and players are too far apart. This offseason, Tremaine Edmunds has defined the market for the position as a four-year, $72 million offball linebacker. Edmunds traded from the Buffalo Bills to the Chicago Bears.
Bucs’ Pro Bowl LB Devin White has in fact requested a trade, as @JennaLaineESPN reported. Bucs do not want to trade him, but he wants to be traded as he is coming up on his fifth-year option.

White joined the Buccaneers in 2019 as the number five first-round pick and won the Super Bowl with the Florida team in 2020. In his career so far, White has 483 tackles and 20.5 sacks. He also caught an interception, blocked 15 passes and caused six fumbles with his tackles. Last season, however, White sagged with the Buccaneers’ entire defense. White was particularly weak in coverage and also missed 16 tackles.
